upgrade MS1 to MS3 sync los 02

Post by Vanhoe »

Hello

I'm looking into upgrading to MS3 on my first MS1 ecu.
Sure there was a manual for this , can't seem to find it anymore.
Also I want to inport a MS2 mapping into the MS3

Can you direct me to the link

With the MS3 we have the USB communication, is it ok to use a bleutooth adaptor on the serial connector and use the usb port at the same time
on the laptop?

Hello I have a problem with the fuel pump not comming on when cranking, the ready light does become green in the screen.
I can activate the pump, she also primes when ignition on.
Can someone pint me to the subject of the problem in the forum pages?
When I activate the injector a few times to get some fuel in it, he wants to start so ignition is working, I also see a value for pulse width.
But the injector 12 V is also comming from the FP relais.

Ok fuel pump relais power feed went of while cranking, replaced the wire to a constant 12 V
Ok for now.

Almost there, the engine wants to fire up mut stalls as soon I stop cranking,

I am having problems to start my engine.
Checked the timing with the strobolight and it seems that it is jumping back and forward and also missing it.

4 cyl , 36-1 tooth wheel and TPS, single coil setup.
In the past this engine has run on MS1 extra but now with the MS3 1.4.0 not.
She wants to fire but wont run.

Please take a look at the tooth logger while crancking
and also the log file

You have 130 lost sync errors in that log. This is either an ignition settings issue or a crank sensor issue. This has to be fixed before the motor will start.

Is it possible that there is a difference betwee MS1 and MS3 for the polarisation of the vr sensor?

It ran on the MS 1 last year but now upgrading to MS 3 no luck with the VR signal.

MS1 has only one option for the input polarity - it always uses the falling edge. With MS3, you can tell the ECU to use the rising or the falling edge in TunerStudio.

So you don't need to swap the wires around anymore and select the other setting?

I have rising adge and going high for now

Rising edge is the opposite of what the MS1 was doing.

there is no danger to change this for the ignition driver on the MS 3.0 board?

You need to verify timing after switching this setting.

After setting to falling edge , no RPM signal at all, so swapped the wires around and the same againg lost sync reason 2 and count up to 62.

I also moved the VR sensor wire away of everything and on the side of the engine bay.
Turned the pots CCW all the way on the conditioner.

After I take the ignition plugs out the engine and only put one on the end of the first wire from the distributor holding against the engine block
I get a stadey ingnition looking with the stobe light, see the log next, no sync los reason.
The power to the fuel pump and injectors is disconnected.

next step was hooking up the points in the distributor to the coil and no longer spark from MS3, now she starts up better but still dies after 2 seconds loosing the sync from
the triggerwheel but I feel a difference in starting. I also improved the vr sensor position to the weel .

Looks good to me.
It could be distrubutor, sparkplugs or startermotor wich causes the problem.

Try this, keep fuelpump, injectors and ignition coil disconnected.
Put plugs in and make tooth log, this way you are testing the starter motor with a load.

If tooth log looks good, connect al ignition parts and make a new tooth log.
Are you using resistor plugs and is distrubutor in good condition ?
