Re: Dwell for LS2 D514A Coils
I have always used 3.5ms on these coils on a lot of installs with very good results. You can tweak the default but I don't think there will be a discernible difference.
Re: Dwell for LS2 D514A Coils
I would be interested in what model of vehicle and year that ecu data was found. I am not certain each of the various coil models are the same. IE: coil figures of 4.5 dwell may be for the truck version of LS2 coil. I figure each coil can vary some even within a coil model. That is why I am curious what model of vehicle. I want to see if I can tell the exact model of LS2 coil was used.
Your notes are the only info I have seen that shows what GM intended. The data and testing work above shows the coils can likely stand a higher dwell, possibly up to around 4 if I interpret that data correctly. I have been running 3.7 Nominal Dwell entry for a while and have not had the cut out issues that I had before. The recommended 3.5 that others have used seems reasonable as well and more conservative than 3.7. I will evaluate with the 3.2 and see if there seems to be any difference.
I am not certain how Tuner Studio is programmed, is the Nominal Dwell the number that is expected at 14 volts? If so, it may be possible GM intends a lower number than 3.15 for the Nominal Dwell entry. possibly 89% of that? 2.8?

Re: Dwell for LS2 D514A Coils
I am using the later truck coils with the heatsink and only use them fired as true cop.
Re: Dwell for LS2 D514A Coils
I have attached a dwell table for a 2002 6.0L truck engine. This engine uses the "truck" coils, the ones with the heat sink. At 14v the dwell is 4.16s from 0 rpm to 4400.
