Launch control+ ALS stay always ON
Hi,
Just wired a diy MS3+MS3X to run a Toyota 2JZ engine, all works fine except when I enable "Launch" on "Launch In" and ALS on "Tableswitch", both are "ON" when the engine starts and cannot be turned off except from the TunerStudio menu;
The ground switches doesn't seem to be doing anything when I switch them to ground
When I turn the Ignition switch to the "ON" position, the "launch in" and "tableswitch" switches to ground doesn't arm anything.
I also have a Defi tacho that needs a + signal to work, what output can i use to give me a positive signal to make the tacho work ?
Thank you

Datalog too please.
Measure the voltage on the wires going to the Launch and ALS switches.
Did you install the S12C-JS9 jumper wire on the mainboard?

Don't remember if the S12C-JS9 is installed, should it be ?
What about the output to use to make the tacho work ?
I need a positive output

Re: Launch control+ ALS stay always ON
The S12C-JS9 link MUST be installed or the switch inputs won't work.
Depends on the current required. "Tacho" provides a 0-12V pulsed output. This is described in the Hardware manual.

Re: Launch control+ ALS stay always ON
The polarity "tacho" outputs is negative, I checked with a test light;jsmcortina wrote:The S12C-JS9 link MUST be installed or the switch inputs won't work.

The tachometer didn't work, I installed a relay and switched the polarity, it worked but if I rev it past 1600rpm the relay stops clicking and the tacho goes to zero
Can I use IAC1 or others instead ?
Do they give a positive polarity ?

Makes me curious...... How do you check polarity with a test light?dochka wrote:The polarity "tacho" outputs is negative, I checked with a test light;

You put one end to chassis ground lets say, if the light comes on it means the source is positive;kjones6039 wrote:Makes me curious...... How do you check polarity with a test light?dochka wrote:The polarity "tacho" outputs is negative, I checked with a test light;

Similarly, if you put one end to a positive cable lets say of the alternator or battery (+) and the other end on the source and the light comes on, means it sends negative pulses

Re: Launch control+ ALS stay always ON
Ah ha! The light comes on (pun definitely intended)! It appears that we are actually talking LED here, not incandescent bulb/test light. Thank you.

Re: Launch control+ ALS stay always ON
It does not say to use a relay. It says to use a relay coil. Just the coil, you have to remove the switching armature. No clicking should be heard.dochka wrote:The polarity "tacho" outputs is negative, I checked with a test light;jsmcortina wrote:The S12C-JS9 link MUST be installed or the switch inputs won't work.

So how the coil will switch the polarity ?slow_hemi6 wrote:It does not say to use a relay. It says to use a relay coil. Just the coil, you have to remove the switching armature. Re: Launch control+ ALS stay always ON
have you installed the S12C-JS9 jumper yet? have you tried using or removing the pull up jumper on the ms3x card?
1990 bmw 320i daily driver with m20b25 ms3 sequential fuel, 380cc injectors, d585 coil near plug, home made cam sync, launch control, fan control, vss, homebrew egt logging what's next????
Re: Launch control+ ALS stay always ON
Installed the S12C-JS9 jumper, issue solved, now the switches work! Dunno why I forgot to install that jumpergrom_e30 wrote:have you installed the S12C-JS9 jumper yet? have you tried using or removing the pull up jumper on the ms3x card?
I tried both installing and removing the J3 jumper in the MS3X card, both ways the tacho output stays negative and the tachometer doesn't work

Re: Launch control+ ALS stay always ON
What do you have the stand alone defi racer gauge or the type with the separate link controller? Standalone just needs a squarewave logic input on the blue wire, maybe 12v tolerant but I don't know for sure. The rest should just be 12v, gnd and illum.
