MS3 on a ZX14- Help needed
I am installing a MS3 MS3X V3.57 on a ZX14 engine for a dragbike. I have completed all the wiring and tested the coils and injectors, all test good.
The bike will not start. I have tried several different settings with the ignition setup. I am using the stock crank trigger(24/2) wheel. I tried to follow the setup that I saw from a memeber on this site but I am only getting a few backfires and pops.
Does anyone have a file that I can use to get me started?
Thanks,
Bob

can you post your current tune file and a data log of a failed start attempt?

We also need a data log of it cranking with the coils and injectors disconnected. At this point in the test process, it is really easy to screw up a crank with backfires.
First we verify we have a clean cranking RPM and the sensors look reasonable in the logs.
Next, we need to verify that spark is happening withing a few degrees of where we think it should be sparking.
Then you verify it is going from wasted spark to full sequential and at the correct position of the crank in the 720 degrees of rotation.
Only then are we ready to introduce some fuel.
Any other sequence can lead to bad (expensive) issues.

msq looks pretty normal btw the ignition table is odd but will not stop it from starting.

I am tuning a similar motor right now. I bet you would find it easier to start up on Speed-Density and later go to table blending to fine tune in the ITBs.
I would turn on include the AFR in the fuel calcs option. It makes it way quicker to later fine tune the bike.

alpha n should be fine. I am thinking his problem is in his ignition settings. I don't own a zx14 nor ms3, but I would change ignition input capture to Falling Edge and tooth number #1 to 120-135 deg.

I have found that Speed Density is way easier up to about 15% throttle in large throttle body ITB motors. Once to that point and above, the air flow and the pipe organ effect of the intake is simply too difficult to deal with and Alpha-N starts to shine. You find this when you start getting big logs.

On a road bike itb load works great i'm running it on mine, but this is a drag bike so i think alpha-n will be fine.
edit: tooth log and if the signal is good, then checking the timing with a strobe would be what i would be doing.

Thanks for all the input. I will be working on the bike again today and I will try those settings. Plus I will try to get a datalog of that info.
I have tried tooth #1 at 120 deg, but I have not tried falling edge.
