double feeding a pressure tranducer

Post by racerron »

im not getting any fuel pressure reading on tuner studio. somehow i connected the red to 12 volts and the black to the 5 volt from the tps and the green to the spare adc (light blue). do you think i messed up anything inside the ms3x.

The ADC inputs are not designed for greater than 5V.

Does it work with the wiring corrected?

with the wiring corrected it still does not work. and I know the pressure transducer works on 5 volts so I'm thinking maybe the transducer burned up inside since I was running 12 volts to it

I did put a ohm meter between the black and the green wire and I was getting 17 k ohms

Can you post a datasheet for the transducer?

Technically, you applied 7v (12v - 5v at the GND), unless the engine was running with 15v at the alternator, in which case you applied 10v. The least voltage applied, and the lowest pressure experienced, will determine what voltage was applied to the ADC. If you have a stim, you can check the ADC, see if it's still good.

Without a part number and an actual datasheet (your link is to a catalogue cut-sheet), it's hard to say what voltage the transducer will or will not withstand. If you have it properly wired in and you still have no output voltage on the green wire with the engine running (and presumably pressure in the rail), you've probably killed it.

Ok thanks.I was going to check that next. apply 5 volts to the red wire and read the output voltage on the green wire. just for the hell of it I bought another one just in case this one was bad

got it working. the ms3x is ok. i did a bench test on the sensor. ok. i had the tuner studio on fuel pressure 1 and i should have put it on generic sensor inputs (log fuel pressure) duh. i feel stupid. here is another question. my gauge for log fuel pressure on tuner studio shows the right pressure but the needle moves very little and the gauge starts at -3000 and goes to +3000 psi. how do i make the gauge needle start at 0 and end at 100 psi

Put the dashboard into designer mode (right click) right click the gauge and go to properties and click gauge limits and values. Put the settings you want for the gauge in there.
