an easy way to protect your engine would be to put a pressure activated switch in the oil line, they do it on lots of farm equipment to keep people from running engines without oil, water etc. the switch is about 20 dollars at napa and comes in several preset pressures, if you put this into the system and control the coil wiring you can start the engine, using the supply voltage from the starter relay and the engine will fire up, but if oil pressure drops below 5 psi, 10 psi or 15 psi ( depending on the switch) it will kill the ignition before the oil shortage kills the mechanical parts. Just a way its done on the farms.
