I've been pulling my hair out trying to resolve a motor that's not running. Misfiring, not idling right and such.
BMW inline 6, M54 engine.
I finally traced it to the fact that even though my configuration specifies a 1-5-3-6-2-4, the actual firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6 as verified by oscilloscope on the coils.
The only reason it's running is that 1 and 3 are firing.
It's not wiring, coil A fires when I test coil A. same for the others.
Anyone seen this behavior before?
Thanks, Stephen

Re: Help! firing order doesn't match .MSQ
From the tooltip on firing order:
You MUST wire your coils & injectors, in sequence A-B-C-D-E-F, to cylinders 1-5-3-6-2-4.Firing order is used for trim and per-cylinder corrections so the adjustment is applied to the correct cylinder number. Injectors and coils must still be wired in firing order sequence. i.e. InjA = cyl1, InjB = next cylinder to fire

Similarly, injectors must also be "hard-wired" for the correct sequence.

I rewired the coils to match the firing order and it runs much, much better
Thanks for helping me solve, been a while since I wired a Megasquirt.
