Ms3x with micro trans control- idle up options

Post by 93supercoupe »

I've been working on a turbo LS truck with ms3x with a microsquirt for trans control (4l80)

We are trying to figure out a way to prevent it from stalling when we go from neutral to drive/reverse

So we have a brake switch input going into the micro squirt

In my mind, there's 3 possibilities-

1. Reduce line pressure to basically 0 at very very low/no loads

2. Use the brake switch to activate AC idle up. But I'm not sure what input pin we should select for use of the brake switch. It allows me to select CANIN 1-8, but I don't know what one or if the brake switch is linked to one of them (remember brake switch is wired to the microsquirt which is connected via CAN to the ms3x)

3. Some function in the micro squirt I'm not seeing. It allows you to configure a brake switch but I don't see any way to do anything at all with it.

I can upload a msq if needed later, but right now I'm on my phone.

Thanks!

The brake switch on the uS-TCU goes to pin #6; this is fixed and unchangeable. I don't believe this information is passed back to the MS3. You COULD simply wire the same switch to both computers, and - as you say - have that switch activate the idle-up.

Ok that works, thanks for the tip

What function could the brake input have? I can't see anywhere to take action based off the brake switch input

is there antoher way to prevent stalling when going into gear? Seems the stepper motor cant keep up even under good closed loop control.

Are you using idle timing correction? You can change the rpm points and tkming curve Maybe able to ads some timing with it 50 to 100 rpm low and have it recover while your waiting on the stepper

I could give that a shot for sure.

If it doesnt work ill probably have him T the brake switch so i can use AC idle up

Does anyone know what function the brake switch input could have on the trans controller?

From the TC manual:
3.3.6 Brake Switch input
The optional brake-switch input is used to unlock the convertor during braking for smoother operation. On the
Microsquirt the "FLEX" input is used.
