Sr20det CAS Problem

Post by Memphisrain »

Greetings from Germany,

We bought ah MS3 with MS3x V3.57. We Use the MS3 and Ms3X Harness from Diy.
Everything is fine, but the Stock CAS don't work.

On a V3.57, put main board JP1 in the 1-2 position and J1 in the 5-6 position.

Low Res on Pin 24 MS3
High Res on Pin 31 MS3X
12V Permanent
CAS ground on Sensor Ground MS3

Under the ignition setup menu, set the following.

Spark mode: Nissan SR20
Trigger Angle / Offset: 0
Ignition input capture: Rising edge
Spark output: Going High
Number of coils: Coil on plug
Spark hardware in use: MS3X spark
Cam input: MS3X

And Now... we get no Signal :/

Had i Something forget?

Do you have any kind of tooth log? crank it over a couple times and see if you can get a composite and/or a tooth log.
When I had this problem with my Nissan KA engine, It ended up being a combination of old battery, improperly adjusted VR pots, and a misplaced pull up resistor. I would investigate those three routes.

I "think" you have the trigger wires upside down, if my logic serves me right:

High res should go to pin 24 ms3, since it is the "main" trigger

Low res should go to pin 31 ms3x, since it is the "cam" trigger.

Yeah, I would have said that too, but I think there was a recent thread discussing this type of trigger wheel; and doing that won't work because there is no missing tooth on the high-res and no usable pattern (like half-moon or single-tooth) on the low-res to provide TDC info

Edit: take a peek at this thread, I think it is a similar type trigger being discussed

PLEASE read the manual. The Nissan CAS is special. The wiring is covered in the Hardware manual.

Hi,
We have now made a test with an MS3 V3.0 . This is currently installed in my Nissan Skyline and constantly on Rb25Det .
We have switched it on SR20 in TS . the CAS was immediately recognized and we had a speed signal .
Either something is broken board at our V3.57 , or we did something else wrong .

When cabling we adhered to the instructions . As I said with another MS3 we immediately have a speed signal .

In V3.57 we have: mainboard JP1 in the 1-2 position and J1 in the position 5-6 . Not more. Have we forgotten something there ?

Looks like J1 is in the wrong place.
Have you adjusted the trim pots to give 2.5V ?

Where is the official source that states the jumper settings for JP1 & J1?

Hi James,

I am sorry but i can't find any information about the jumper settings in the link which you sent.
You link is about :4.10.2.8 Sequential - low impedance injectors - Injector Resistors
Either i am blind or you may posted the wrong link.

Can you please double check?
