Engine just died.
Hoping for some insight- I am, running TS 2.14; MS3.57w/3X version MS3 1.4.1 MS3 Format 0524.05 in a boat with 1990 GM 4.3L V6, Holley TBI, and EDIS coil only, red crank sensor powered by VRef 5V.
I was running fine, after a couple of hours, engine just stopped, coughed once lightly (weak backfire), and will not start.
I have run a tooth logger and I get a pattern, but I do not get a pattern on the composite logger. I was wondering why.
I put MS3 on Jimstim and JimstimX and they show I am getting spark output and I get perfect tooth and composite patterns.
Msq and datalogs are attached.
Thanks, Bob Pendleton

Re: Engine just died.
It's hard to see the missing tooth. I presume this is a 36-1 wheel?

Re: Engine just died.
Yes, this is a 36-1 wheel, first run with EDIS module and then with the older flanged crank sensor before the red sensor was installed.
Also, I forgot to put in that I am using a JBPerf 4 channel ignition driver board to fire the EDIS coil.
I am going to try to test the separate pieces before I conclude what the problem is.
Thanks, Matt. Bob Pendleton.

Re: Engine just died.
More confused than ever!!
I was running crank sensor approx. .020 from crank wheel. After Matt's comment above I pulled the sensor and moved it to .040 in. from wheel.
Now I get composite patterns attached, all with sync error. ?
It looks like I need to change the settings to "falling" capture and "going low" for output.
When I test sensor w/meter, out of engine I get 4.88V, in the engine 4.88V.
I thought it should read 0 V near tooth and high V not near tooth.
I thought you could change the polarity of the sensor, but I have not figured out how to do that yet.
Any ideas? Thanks. Bob Pendleton.

Re: Engine just died.
I don't think you can change the polarity of a hall sensor. That's for when you're using a VR sensor.

Re: Engine just died.
The ignition input capture flips the polarity. I'd leave it on the setting that is syncing up.
