No sync on Optispark

Post by Gregetter »

Still a newbie but learning.
No matter what I try, I can't get Sync.
I've tried every combination of spark settings. I've isolated pin 1of the MS3 from all other grounds and run it directly to the Opti.
I'm driving a spare, known good Optispark, with a battery operated drill.
Judging by the Composite Log, I'm getting a sync loss every time the Hi Res signal goes
I've read through many of the simillar threads but haven't been able to duplicate any one's success.
Does anyone have any ideas?
BTW, I'm trying to set this up as ignition only.

I meant to say "when the high res signal goes either hi or lo, rising or falling edge"
I've also added an msq file.
thanks

Have you followed the instructions in the MS3X/V30 Hardware manual precisely ?

James,
To the best of my abilities, the board assembly is as directed in the manual.

I followed the instructions in section 5.2.4 with two exceptions. I did not use shielded cable for the Low or Hi Res signals and I took signal ground to pin 1 instead of pin 7.

I modified the Optispark harness per the instructions in section 6.39 and verified 5v, ground and signal are present and are tied to the the appropriate pins, except as noted, above. The Hi Res signal is routed to pin 31, PT4, of the X board.

Externally, I have all of the grounds, with the exception of sensor ground (not presently used except for the sensor ground connection of the coil packs.), ganged on terminal strips with shorting jumpers. See attached photo. I did this for ease of assembly and service. I also reasoned that if all of the grounds of the MS3 are internally grouped together, external grouping would be acceptable. Yes? No?

Thanks for your time and expertise.
