TCC Lock Up, Can't get signal to switch to ground

Post by Buzda »

Hi,

Would like help in determining why TCC won't lock up.

I'm running a 200-4r transmission behind a 3.8L V6 Turbo Buick engine and am wanting to control the lock up of the torque converter through MS3 (v3.57)

The Output Pin for the TCC signal is set to 'Nitrous 1' and I have verified that this channel is wired directly to the TCC solenoid Pin D. With a physical switch hardwired into that same pin I have verified when Pin D is switched to ground the converter locks.

I have also verified that the VSS is working properly and the fan does turn off based on VSS as it is set up to do.

However, the converter doesn't lock.

Is there a setting that I need to change so that the Nitrous 1 pin switches to ground when TCC lock up is commanded? Or should I use a different output than Nitrous 1?

Thanks,
-john

Two things to do:

1. test the Nitrous1 output using the Output Test mode.
2. take and post a datalog of driving for when the lockup should happen.

Hi James,

Thanks for the reply and tips.

In test mode with the engine not running and meter leads on ground and on the 'Nitrous 1' via the circuit starts open and then when I select enable the resistance is around 1MOhm which seems high to me. I do hear the solenoid click when I enable it in test mode.

Attached is a datalog without lock up which should occur at VSS > 45 MPH.

Thanks for the help,
-john

Upgrade to the current firmware - this was fixed a year ago.

Upgraded firmware from 1.4.0 to 1.4.1

Test drove the car and the TCC did lock up, problem solved
