Shift light wiring using injector J

Post by nathaninwa »

I installed some LEDs for a shift light and the only outputs I have left working are injector I and J. Wiring the lights to switched 12v power and grounding through the injector wire has them on very dimly but once triggered they are full bright

Is there a resistors or something I can instal to bleed off the current so the lights will turn off?

Do you have a data sheet for the LED you're using? This will help size a suitable resistor.

I don't. I bought these a few years ago off eBay. They are a 12v led with resistors already installed on the 12v side. There is nine, 3mm led's

Went through the wiring and found high current 2 was changed and no longer used, so wired it up and still have the off bleeding problem

I just added a 1k pull down and it lights up 100% now all the time. Should i try making this a pull-up resistor?

I would try a resistor in series with the LED.

The high current and injector outputs are the same circuit, but the PWM outputs are different. Neither should have any appreciable current leakage, but this may be a very efficient LED!

Thanks Matt. I'll try a couple resistors, if not I can repurpose a pwm output as its only turning on my cooling fan and swap with the high current

I swapped pins and pwm out still bleeds a little. Tried up to a 10k inline with the negative side and still got bleeding. So i wired in a mini relay and all is good now

i had a similar issue and using some inline diodes seemed to clean up my issue

A pull up resistor likely would have solved the issue a well.

I have that issue in several cars, but I have not spent time trying to solve it.

On the pwm output I tried a 1k and 10k pull-up and I also tried a 1N4001 diode. No luck.
