Honda d17a2 spark table msq.

Post by EM2CIVIC »

Does any one have a good spark table for a n/a d17a2. I was trying to use an ms3 on my civic but I couldn't get the spark table down, I gave up on megasquirting my car and took evreything out because i was going to swap in a k24a2 but it turns out the motor i bought is blown so while im saving up to kswap my car i would like to boost my little d17. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know if these will help, but here's some stock tables from hondata s300 for a d16 n/a and boosted.
And also my ms spark table from our boosted b18. If you try my table be careful. I'm no expert. You have been warned

No idea about hondata but I know a lot of factory ecu run multiple tables and modifiers. The maps shown so far have been "low speed" and "high speed". Whats the switch point on this?

The switch point is "vtec crossover" where it switches cam lobes. Defined by rpm and MAP

So it's probably not best to be looking at the low speed map for knock after 4000rpm?

Depends where the cross over is set to. More aggressive aftermarket cams will want to be crossed over at a much higher RPM then the stock cams. We did a motor car that would dip hard in hp/tq if we crossed over under 7k (13.5-1cr, methanol, 10k limit)

Being a single cam, the crossover happens much earlier and doesnt have nearly the same impact as it would a 2 cam engine, so yea your probably right.

can I drive the vtec solenoid off of the vvt output on the ms3, or do I have to add a relay?

Check its resistance. If it's 6 ohms or more, an MS3X mid current output can drive it directly no problem.

I checked it and its 14.6 ohms can I connect it to the vvt output ? Or which output works off of the mid current driver?

Yes. VVT is one of the mid current outputs.

Does the frequency matter? Because right now the IAC is set to 512 Hz

My vtec solenoid works off of 12v and the megasquirt is trying to send it ground through the vvt output is there anyway to make it send positive voltage?

Use a solid state relay - or a regular relay if it doesn't have to be pulsed.

I finally installed a knock module and now my engine seems to be misfiring, when i start the engine it runs like crap and doesnt fire on all cylinders but when i rev the engine to like 4k it will idle fine until i start it again. My stock ecu says cylinder number 2 misfire detected. Does any one know what the problem might be? I also installed bigger injectors after i installed the knock module so thats another variable to consider.

I also wired the clutch switch to launch in but for some reason the megasquirt limits the rpm when the clutch in engaged or not. and here is a datalog
