Tuning help... please!

Post by bobbyearl »

My (and my sons) install is on 88 Jeep straight 6 that I've been working on for a couple of weeks. I've been trying to get it tuned, but not having much luck. It idles well, but smells like it's running rich. When it's put under any load there is very little power from the engine.

Any help or suggestions would be very appreciated.

Regards, Rob

Do you have a wideband?

Without O2 feedback in the log, there is very little I can do to evaluate how well the tune is set up.

And the spark table looks more suited to something like a Gen III Hemi or some sort of other dual plug / very fast burn head; it's not likely to be nearly enough advance for a two valve 1980s combustion chamber layout.

You can't tune by smell remotely?

I threw my smellavision out the window after my 5 year old decided it was a good idea to play a video about farms on it. It took me a week of cleaning and five gallons of Febreeze to make the pig smell go away.

Thanks for the info guys! Needed the laugh on smell tuning. I'll get a wideband order, and check back.

Thanks

Thanks in advance for any help.

Did you calibrate the AFR Table for the Innovate? (Tools>Calibrate AFR Table)

Yes, more than once. :) Looking at other post I set the EGO to custom sensor, point 1 to 0V=10AFR and point 2 to 5V=20AFR.

Thanks
