Twinspark spark timing offset

Post by Twinspark »

Hello,

can MS3x run 8 spark channels for a 4 cylinder, with the two sets of four plugs timed a degree or two apart?

I wonder if the functionality for rotary trailing spark would work here. You may be limited to wasted spark rather than cop though.

Thanks Suberi,

what about oddfire phasing?

From TS manual:
Custom oddfire angles in sequence from #1
• 1st – Number of crank degrees engine rotates from spark A to spark B;
• 2nd – Number of crank degrees engine rotates from spark B to next cylinder;
• 3rd – Number of crank degrees engine rotates from spark C to next cylinder;
• 4th – Number of crank degrees engine rotates from spark D to next cylinder.

Set up something like this:

Cylinder 1 A and B - 2 degrees
B to C - 178 degrees
Cylinder 3 C and D - 2 degrees
D to E - 178 degrees
Cylinder 4 E and F - 2 degrees
F to g - 178 degrees
Cylinder 2 G and H - 2 degrees

Is this likely to work?

You're welcome.
In fact you could probably use trailing spark like on a quad rotor and still have cop mode as such.
Nothing wrong with wasted spark though.

Sorry I don't know anything about odd fire.
2 degrees is not a lot of split?

What's the engine?

Actually it looks like trailing timing support is limited to rotary engines only and rotary must be selected in the engine settings.
Perhaps a feature request to enable this might work for you?

Currently trailing spark is a rotary-only feature. It may be added for piston engines in the future.
