MS3-Pro 1.5.0 Fan Control Possible issue

Post by LSXCutty »

I see I can turn the fan off according to VSS. I turned it on and cycled power, but I can not change the MPH range. It is still greyed out.

Do you have a Speed Sensor configured?

I am a little confused on this one. If you feel your motor needs to be cooled down if it is over say 200 and it is at 202, why would it matter is the car was going over say 50 MPH or under 49.9 MPH? I want to bring on the fan and get all the air thru the radiator is as I can. If 50 MPH is plenty of air flow, the water temp will never get to the point to ever need turn the fans on.

The feature uses VSS1 only. However, Andy makes a good point too!

For a couple reasons, the air flow through a rad at speed is generally more than the fan would be, so it's a waste to turn the fan on.

Also it's said that a fan powered at speed can actually reduce the amount of airflow through a rad than just leaving it un-powered and left to freewheel. Many, if not all OEMs runs their fans this way. Some really rough testing of this in my own car a long while a ago seemed to confirm this. Not very scientific testing, just some playing with fan disable settings and observations of my temp gauge.

Please post a log from normal driving and let's see what the system is doing in the real world.
