starts then dies right wawy

Post by Davek »

My tune ran well last year. Then I torn the engine a part to fix an exhaust manifold leak. All back together not it wont run.
Fuel pressure OK, 2 wire ford idle control, its slightly warm but not much of a buzz sound.
Start right up then dies in a second or less.
MS3X sequential. 280ZXT engine.
here is my start log. and tune.
any ideas

Have you checked your plugs?

it almost looks like your engine phase is wrong it cuts out each time the engine goes full sequential. for a test set your number of coils to 'wasted cop' if it stays running turn it back to cop but try adding 360 to your tooth #1 angle
1990 bmw 320i daily driver with m20b25 ms3 sequential fuel, 380cc injectors, d585 coil near plug, home made cam sync, launch control, fan control, vss, homebrew egt logging what's next????

Plugs look good. A little rich with all the starting attempts.
Changes to wasted COP and no difference at all. Good idea.
Tried blipping the throttle while starting but only makes it sound rich.

Hmm... that has me puzzled. With a 12-1 crank wheel and COP, changing to wasted-COP should have got it running fine, regardless of the dizzy (CMP) being off 180*; but the OP reported that trying wasted-COP didn't do any good. Anybody got a theory that would account for this apparent contradiction?
