Firmware 1.5 download failure

Post by Neilshop »

Gents,
While uploading firmware version 1.5 to my MS3/MS3X I received an error message stating that the '1k eraser failed' and further stated that this was a required step. As a consequence, the dialog now says that I have no firmware and I now can't connect to my ECU. I was doing this update via the blue tooth connection in my car as I have successfully done several times in the past, so it's not obvious to me that this had any role in the failure. Power was never interrupted and it appeared that everything was working normally. Regardless, I need to know exactly how to go about connecting to the ECU and recovering its functions.

Thanks in advance....

Probably have to reload the firmware by jumpering the bootloader pins on the MS3 card. That manually puts it into boot loader mode. http://www.msextra.com/doc/pdf/html/Meg ... .5-21.html
Find the Manuals up top under Quick links: Manuals. :RTFM:

It could well be the BlueTooth connection behaving unexpectedly.

Thanks to all for the assistance. I removed the ECU from the car to simplify access to the internals and managed to successfully complete the firmware erase and load. Up and running! I'll refrain from uploading firmware thru the Bluetooth connection in the future.
