Re: Solid state relay wiring help
Should be much easier to run a normal 87 relay (ground/negative controlled from the ecu).

Re: Solid state relay wiring help
The OP wants to use this for PWM, "normal" (mechanical) relays don't last long in that type of service; and may not be able to even cycle fast enough to give desired control.

I went ahead and updated the image on the first post so if there is anyone looking for this information, then they can find it.

Why would you PWM this circuit? Vtec is on or off. No in between.
Just use a regular relay.
Just use a regular relay.

solid state make a lot of sense given the situation. The normal bosch relays weren't made for rapid on/off function so i just wanted to use something i know i wouldn't have to change as often. Yes i know they work but i decided to go a different route. Did you wire an ms3x for vtec before? if so, how did you tackle it?
Re: Solid state relay wiring help UPDATED Diagram 7/20/2018
I have regular relays running in my lab at work that have done 10 million cycles and still work just fine.

You seem confused as to how a low side drive works. If the Vtec needs 12 vdc then run the positive wire from the valve directly to the battery and then the ECU will complete the ground on the other wire. Just like injectors and coils R wired.

Hmm... 10 million cycles for 250 Hz PWM would be about 11 hours. I wonder if that is long enough life for the OP?

An old vtec solenoid is on/off so it would cycle a lot less than a pwm valve.

I just wasn't understanding that it isn't PWM. The sketch the Op started this thread with shows a PWM input to the SSR, so I assumed that is what was meant; that it was going to be operated as PWM.
