PWM alternator issue. Have it wired as per manual.

Post by TheMU47 »

I have been getting some help from a member, and have it wired up like the manual shows but have no alternator response. I did also wire in PT4 for monitoring on the field duty circuit.

Image

with these settings -

control mode - open loop duty
control interval - 10ms
control output - idle (used the light green w/ purple on X board)
output polarity - inverted
control frequency - 125Hz (no setting for 128Hz, may be the problem, IDK)
warning lamp off
load monitor input - PT4
capture polarity - inverted

Did I miss something here?

I forgot to mention, this is a GM 2 wire alternator.
with connector pulled, KOEO I have 4.5V at turn on signal wire, and 4.9V on field duty wire.

I have my PWM wire connected with a 470ohm resistor, and its pinned to the wire that is closest to the main charge output post

I used the 5Vref with 1Kohm resistor and a pwm medium current circuit. added pt4 for monitoring. didn't do anything.

i'll try what you have Nathan. thanks. I'll let you know how it goes.

Not working. It's likely a setting or something. I'm new to this system, but trying my best. Maybe that idle circuit (light green with purple) was a bad choice?

here's the current shizz. there's a list of issues in there, but right now I want the alternator to work.

tried using the PT4 as PWM. now getting 2.84V at connector. Still no response from alternator. I'm going to check the alternator at AZ by the house.
All of the data shows it should be around 14.2V.

*just got back, the alternator was bad*
