I undestand right?, ms3 pro ultima try get oil pressure meter work to tunerstudio.
I use vdo sensor, ms3 5v ref --> sensor and other connect from sensor --> ms3 analog input 4
Tunerstudio i use generic 1, analog 4 input , linear
I put meter to tuner studio and use analog 4 but meter not move any...
I use ohmmeter check sensor and its show motor stop 0ohm and motor running idle 70ohm.
There something what i not undestand... Later come only Pad to car where show only imports things to driver what need know when drive so car not come original meters...
Sorry my english.

Re: Oil pressure
you need a sensor that outputs a variable voltage eg 0psi = 0v 100psi = 5v. usually these have 3 wires. with the talking of ohms i'm not sure your sender is compatible
1990 bmw 320i daily driver with m20b25 ms3 sequential fuel, 380cc injectors, d585 coil near plug, home made cam sync, launch control, fan control, vss, homebrew egt logging what's next????

Re: Oil pressure
Normar sensor use ohm and normal one is 2 wire or one...grom_e30 wrote:you need a sensor that outputs a variable voltage eg 0psi = 0v 100psi = 5v. usually these have 3 wires. with the talking of ohms i'm not sure your sender is compatible
70ohm volt drop or need another resistor sensor output to groud... need test volt what its give out.
I not find from manual much from this...

Re: Oil pressure
that sensor sounds like its more designed to run a gauge. it may work but you will have to work out what pressure @ certain voltage for it to make sense. and its going to draw some current from the 5v as well

Re: Oil pressure
Without looking into the details I think you might need a pullup resistor on the sensor line.
The input in MS is I guess an Analog-Digital converter input, and most likely you need a pullup resistor to get a little current flowing thru the sensor and then the A/D converter can read the voltage drop over the oil pressure sensor.
At 0 Ohms you will read 0 volts.
1) Using a 1 kOhm pullup resistor:
With engine running you will read 5V/(1000+70)Ohm*70 Ohm = 0.33 Volts
Power dissipation in the resistor 5*5/1000 = 25 milliWatts
2) Using a 100 Ohms pullup resistor:
With engine running you will read 5V/(100+70)Ohm*70 Ohm = 2.06 Volts
Power dissipation in the resistor 5*5/100 = 0.25 Watts
You have of course to calibrate the sensor data in MS.

Re: Oil pressure
Ok, i test first that pullup resistor and if its not work them change sensor.
