That looks correct to me, I did the same kind of setup, only I used the rpm signal to turn on the power relay for my ignition coils, I set it for 10 rpm and that way when I first power up the ms3 or turn on the key the ignition coils are not powered up until I start cranking the engine.

Sounds like the standard function of the "fuel punp relay" output, but without the safety features. Why duplicate it?

Re: Relay activated after X seconds after ms3 is on
because it turns on for a few seconds to prime?
I don't see a downside of just using the FP relay to cascade power the ign relay per usual.
You can put that coil power on a switch to flash firmware easily.

Always doing things the hard way, MS2 sequential w/ v1.01 mainboard, LS2 coils. 80 mile/day commuter status.

For the purge valve for the fuel tank... An emissions thing for us who willingly comply.....jsmcortina wrote:Sounds like the standard function of the "fuel punp relay" output, but without the safety features. Why duplicate it?

Right, but you can simply use the FP output, that's what the guys are saying. It can serve to ground trigger several relays and is the preferred way.AlanJ wrote:piledriver wrote:because it turns on for a few seconds to prime?

I thought the purge valve was only supposed to open after the engine has been running for 5 seconds, some even wait until it's "warm".
Sorry for the thread jack

You could certainly use an output based off temp, just like running a cooling fan. The MS has no idea what relay is triggering.

Why give him a hard time for using an output that he wasn't otherwise using to do EXACTLY what he wants instead of SORTA what he wants? That's what's great about the generic outputs you can set them up to do exactly what you want.
