MS3X turbo alcohol staged injecton VE tuning
HI so I have a sbe 6.0 ls on alcohol and a gen 2 pte 94 turbo running on ms3x and 16 volt ignition system. I was just wondering if you guys could take a look at the staged injection settings and see if there is something I'm missing or possibly look at my fuel settings. my problem is, on my current set up my ve numbers are getting close to the max cell of 255 and I'm only at 10 psi. primary injectors are 160# and secondary's are 210# at a base pressure of 70psi. the 210 injectors are running off ms3x board and the 160's are running off the ms3 board and batch fired. If I turn off staged injection and run only on the 220s my ve numbers are only in the 70-90 ve range running 10 psi with the targeted 4.0 afr, but if I turn both injectors on I'm close to 220 ve and am still lean from my targeted afr of 4.0. the only other thing I can think to check is fuel pressure is dropping with 16 injectors firing vs only the 8 and I compensate that with increased VE numbers. I plan to wire a fuel pressure sensor in tomorrow and check it at WOT but was just making sure all the other settings look correct first.
Things ive tried:
set dead settings for both injectors
set up req fuel with the stoich afr of 6.5 (alcohol scale)
using the table for staged injection rather than map pressure.
sbe 6.0
pte 94 turbo
ljms stage 2 cam
magnafuel mp 4103 fuel pump

i think your problem lies on the dead time .45ms, if they are high impedance or with resistors your deadtime should be around 1ms.

They are high impedance Bosch 160's and Bosch 210's... Have 8.9 ohms and I checked a couple websites and it says it should be .45 ms one site says at 16 volts it should be .57ms and at 18 volts its .38 ms and going down the track we have 16.8 volts to 17 volts... But I can try it anyways and see if it changes anything

Re: MS3X turbo alcohol staged injecton VE tuning
James or another firmware expert, can we get confirmation that if you try to run primaries on INJ1 and secondaries on the 3X card with more than four cylinders, the firmware will default to running the secondaries on INJ2? This is the behavior I see on my MS3X on the stim with his tune loaded. I can get his setup to work on the stim if I move the primaries to the 3X card, and then the code is using both INJ1 and INJ2 for the secondary stage.

I investigated and unfortunately this is not supported. You cannot have the primaries as batch and secondaries on MS3X. I've added a config error for the next release to make this clear.

Re: MS3X turbo alcohol staged injecton VE tuning
Thanks for the follow up! Matt Cramer was going to also put it in the developer notes. I bench tested this with the original poster's tune on my MS3X and saw the only two ways with an 8cyl are:
Primary INJ1 and Secondary INJ2
or
Primary 3X outputs and Secondary on both INJ1/INJ2.
It might be nice to get that separated out so you can still use one of the mainboard injector outputs for something else when running staged.
For the record it seems his issue is figured out as when he swapped the tune settings it was getting the expected fuel.
