Anyone running a Toyota 2GRFE on MS3?

Post by suprathepeg »

Curious if anyone is running the newer Toyota 3.5l V6 on MS3?

I have an MR2 with 5sgte that is running on an AEM series 1 and I'd like to change the AEM out for something with more options like megasquirt. The long term thought is to swap the I4 for a Toyota V6 and run it on the same ECU. I know there are PNP MS2 setups for my current motor but I think I'd need MS3 to properly run the newer VVT V6 engine.

The 2GRFE is drive by wire which I don't think MS3 supports? So I could swap out the DBW throttle body for an older cable unit.

And yes I'm reading through the manual lol, its just so big!

Haven't looked at this motor but wonder if cam and crank signals are similar to 1j. Maybe start there as dizzy decoding is the biggest thing unless you fit custom crank angle.
Bound to be different for vvti though.

Interesting concept though. Turbo 3s is rapid.

I believe it uses the 2JZ-VVT crank / cam pattern.

Yes, you'll need a cable operated throttle here.

Has anyone run one on MS3?

I'm hoping this motor isn't on outside of what MS3 can do?
