Flatshift timed ignition retard
Hi guys!
What can I do to retard ignition after flatshift? I need this to prevent clutch from slipping immediatly after gear change on high boost. Didn't see any feature like Timed Retard After Launch for Flatshift. Also MAP accel triggering after flatshift going me crazy because it configured for spool time in gear not boost increase after gear change.

Re: Flatshift timed ignition retard
The code currently doesn't have a feature for the timing retard part. But if you post up an MSQ and data log, we can have a look at the AE issue part.

Why not? Timed retard launch presents. Can somebody point me in sources where is flatshift logic? I see only DO_LAUNCH. Is it pseudo flatshift based on launch algorithm?

Re: Flatshift timed ignition retard
It would be great to have a timing retard function with flat shift. Instead of just ignition cut.
For sequential gearbox gearchage timing retard is enough to allow gearbox disengage and engage next gear.

May be to add an option in shift cut to change logic from ignition cut to retard.mega_user wrote:It would be great to have a timing retard function with flat shift. Instead of just ignition cut.

Going crazy rebuilding and upgrading my clutch to support flatshift on 2 bar with 66mm turbo

This is how done in basic EMU ECU from Poland for 600$ and plus 100$ for ETC module.
MS3-Pro for 1200$ can't do this.

Re: Flatshift timed ignition retard
Ms users are expected to have proper hardware including a clutch.

Mostly, because it previously hasn't been asked for. The features being added to the code had been temporarily tied off at the time you asked to focus on getting 1.5.1 into release status.TurboFan wrote:Why not?

Didn't a motorcycle guy request this just recently? He was having issue with blowing up his tranny on shifts because the power came back on so hard.

I didn't ask for 1.5.1 happy with proven and stable 1.4.1Matt Cramer wrote: Mostly, because it previously hasn't been asked for. The features being added to the code had been temporarily tied off at the time you asked to focus on getting 1.5.1 into release status.
Just give me Ignition retard time and Restore rate in Flatshift so clutch will be alive after 1/4 mile. Vipec and Link users laughing at me.

Features get added to the latest version. If this one makes the cut, the soonest it could be added would be 1.5.2.TurboFan wrote:I didn't ask for 1.5.1 happy with proven and stable 1.4.1

Will waiting for configurable flatshift retard.Matt Cramer wrote:Features get added to the latest version. If this one makes the cut, the soonest it could be added would be 1.5.2.TurboFan wrote:I didn't ask for 1.5.1 happy with proven and stable 1.4.1

Re: Flatshift timed ignition retard
Interesting. Turbofan, could it be that your clutch switch could use adjustment such that it transitions right at the top of the pedal stroke? If it is opening too soon as you re-engage, then power will be applied too soon, before the pressure plate is fully loading the clutch.
Just a thought.

Re: Flatshift timed ignition retard
Yes, I asked for it. Clutch slippage will keep the trans from breaking, too much and it smokes the clutch. A little torque control will help everyone. Make sure timing can be ramped back in at a progressive rate over time or it won't help anything.

Re: Flatshift timed ignition retard
Yes timing must be ramped back in at configurable progressive rate over time after clutch switch. Without this feature I broke 2nd gear while flatshifting on medium boost at drag event.jeffmarsh750 wrote:Yes, I asked for it. jsmcortina, could you check this one future request?
Re: Flatshift timed ignition retard
Same here!!!
WOuld love to have a progressive restore of timing after FS. My issue is much more serious than a clutch slippage. I got a strong knock after releasing the clutch and even with proper knock retard, it got enough time to kill the piston ring grooves. Already opened the engine twice for piston replacement.
Please, add this feature!

Re: Flatshift timed ignition retard
I do not understand how this is related to knock. Could you explain why that would be the case?ekam99 wrote:WOuld love to have a progressive restore of timing after FS. I can understand the torque issue and how a timing slew could soften the blow on the clutch, gearbox etc.
