Idle tuning issues, am I adding too much fuel?

Post by B1ack_Mi16 »

Look at the attached log file.

I'm trying to get the engine to start at approx 1500rpm just after it comes alive. However I need to open the stepper much more, hence it starts at ~2400rpm and fades down to idle from there.

If you see the attached log I try to make it start several times with smaller stepper opening first, not starting though. In the end it starts and jumps to 2400rpm.

An extra irritating feature is that it starts to drop off, but after about 1 sec it increases to another local maximum again before really calming down.
Are any of you able to see what is causing this extra local maximum in the revs just after startup? It really is irritating when you notice it starts to drop and then just kicks up a tiny bit again before calming.

Any help on how to get the tuning better is appreciated. What is a bit strange is that when starting cold at 10 celcius it seem to start at 1500rpm as wished and dropping the rpm steady without the extra top in the revs.

Try pulling a bit of timing in the cells that the engine lands in after start, and decreasing the crank to run taper time.

I'll do more testing on friday.

But one thing I notice now, a friend of mine pinpointed out that the E85 fuel correction is actually suddenly rising from 100 to 163% just after cranking starts. No wonder it drowns itself then?

How can this be, first bet is of course to deactivate the sensor, but I was hoping to be able to run with it active.

it appears to be hitting the 'fallback for sensor failure' at a guess.

So possibly there is too much voltage drop during cranking that the sensor "resets" itself for a vast moment...?

yeah sounds feasible, or some form of electrical noise possibly
