electric fan relay on spr 3

Post by Sinister »

I hvae searched for the answer but cannot find any. I ran the spr 3 wire to my fan relay thinking it is a spare i should be fine and now after looking i am not sure if i can use it or not. I need to know if it can be used to ground the relay or power the relay, either way it doesn't matter to me other than i know what kind of out put it is.

What board?

You have to jumper spare 3 on the board to a processor pin, through the appropriate circuit.

Almost every answer to any question can be found in the manual.

the board is a v3.0 board I also have the expander card. I have looked through the ms3 manual and can not find any real info about this. I don't usually make posts unless I can't find something, like I said I have searched for it already, I don't know how many times I have read through the manual. Maybe I am missing something but this is not my first megasquirt either just my first ms3. Any help would be apreciated. I just dont want to pull apart my completed harness to run a different output to my fan relay.

Have you used up all of the outputs on the MS3X plug? That's the normal way to control the fan relay.

No I have not used all of them. I realized after building the harness that I should have used one of those outputs. I just trying to use what I have ran to the relay if it is simple but looks like I may be better off cutting the wire and soldering to the right output.

Moving one wire will be far easier than building a new circuit on the mainboard to allow you to use the SPR3 pin.

Thank you for the response. I was thinking that was the case and wanted to verify. I will be switching out the wires.
