1990 Audi CQ 7A MS3X tri-tach ?

Post by quattrophile457 »

Hello I have been installing MS in my car for a few years now (slow project during school, now graduated) and I would love to finally get this thing running. I have done some research :RTFM: and have pretty much 1 question about the tri-tach setup using stock sensors. I have seen a few threads mentioning http://jbperf.com/wheel_translator/index.html which I have read about some users having success. I have been reading other threads about using an input with the MS3X (PT4) as mentioned here http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic ... 04&t=50060. Either way, I am just looking at which direction to go. I would prefer to just install the 3rd input into PT4 and change tune to "flywheel tri-tach". However, I have seen very little information on this and curious to see if there is anyone with any success? If not, I will just purchase a divider board and go that route.

MS3x 3.0 using full sequential injection (using cam hall sensor for CPS)
I am using the 034 upgraded injectors (330cc red injectors), an Innovate LC-2 WB controller, MAF, and IAC

I have not installed this on the car yet (although it is completely wired up except for the Crank sensors), and have been bench top testing. I have gotten the tune to work with the JimStim test boards for MS3 and the expansion card. However, I am uncertain of a way to use the JimStim when the spark mode is set to "flywheel tri-tach".

Sorry for all the links, just trying to create a knowledge repository for those looking for this in the future.

Any more information on this would be very helpful, and thank you very much in advance!

I have made a decision to just go with a 60-2 toothed wheel for ease and longevity. There is just not enough information available at this time to make something experimental in my DD. My opted to go with this flywheel from 034 Motorsport. https://store.034motorsport.com/flywhee ... wheel.html. I talked to them and they said it will work for my application. Only a little more than a new rear main (http://www.efiexpress.com/catalog/produ ... cts_id=137) and its a huge upgrade. I will do my darndest to post an update for future information.
