starting problem after 3 years

Post by subarvair »

My engine is a Subaru EG33 which has been running great for 3 yrs with the MS3/3x. I bought that assmbled 5 yrs ago. Once in a while now when I go to start, the starter can barely turn the engine over. I release the key and try again and the second or third time, the starter spins the engine just fine and it runs great. This seems to happen more when the engine is hot but has also happened when cold. My hunch is that the computer is sometimes putting the start advance at 25* or so rather than the 10* of advance for cranking. This has never happened until the last couple of months. I have not changed the tune or made any other chnages.
Any ideas are appreciated.

Mike

Sounds like your starter is on its way out.

Sounds like it........

On the other hand, perhaps a log of cranking might help..............

Bill,
It has been longer than 3 yrs since you were good enough to help with the first start. Go to http://www.v8registry.com/michael-svint ... coupe.html to see the final product.

Wow, that sure looks different from what I last saw! As I recall, the chassis you had sitting there was a rusty lime-green?
