EJ25 2008 cranking sync issues
ok, so why could it be that sometimes cranking an EJ25 the ecus syncs and sometimes not.
36-2-2-2vvt trigger pattern cop and sequential inj.
Im using ms3x cam in for cam input and the usual pin24 for crank input. Crank input is with jbperf board.
Do i need a higher ohm resistor acros vrpositive and vr-? currently 2.2kohm
When setting it to wasted spark and batched injection it syncs all the times, so maybe its not the crank signal which has theproblem?
I did the cam setting according to 4.2.14.3 jp7 not jumpered, both r11 r32 7 turns anticlockwise the move r11 clockwise until zctestpoint is 2.5v.
Should i instal jp7?
should i vary the zc testpoint voltage? what voltage would make it easier to see low rpm?
thanks in advance

Please post your MSQ and a tooth log of what's going on.

Re: EJ25 2008 cranking sync issues
Today i tried many things, i used 12v pullup with 1k resistor to no luck. I used 5v pullup feeding from the MS with 1kresistor no luck. (no luck meaning it syncs sometimes and sometimes not)
I checked the sensors plugs and they have 12v, 5v (i imagine 5vpullup from stock ecu) and ground.
I forgot to take away the signal from the stock ecu and feed the MSonly and use my own pullup5v
I forgot to feed the 12v on the plug directly in case only during cranking that 12v is too low. Will try this tomorrow.
I tried moving R32 clockwise and anticlockwise, i left it clockwise enough so i didnt have syncloss.
I tried moving R11 clockwise and anticlockwise, i left it at around 2.35v.
I enabled the cam noise filter and left the time in 700us. Although im not sure it helped.
I tried cam fliped polarity, no luck.
I can see the "REady" to "not ready" sign going on and off when it doesnt sync during cranking.
I also set injection and ignition to semisequential and wasted cop keeping the 36-2-2-2vvt trigger pattern. noluck
I tried going to 36-2-2-2 only and it syncs all of the times with no problem but again my main issue was not to fire each coil twice as this ruined a set of coils (at least i think it did since when cold they worked ok and missfired when hot).
please help

Yes, MLV is what you use, but that file is empty, only 94 bytes. Try taking another one. The tooth-log looks pretty poor...

Which of the files are you refering to? i think some of the logs recorded dont have anything because it doesnt sync?billr wrote:Yes, MLV is what you use, but that file is empty, only 94 bytes. Try taking another one. The tooth-log looks pretty poor...

Hi Matt, i uploaded the trigger logs and the msq.Matt Cramer wrote:Please post your MSQ and a tooth log of what's going on.
Im not sure all logs recorded correctly or if they didnt record because ecu doesnt see anything. Let me know if you need me to log again please and which type of log. thanks in advance.

Re: EJ25 2008 cranking sync issues
I think i might have found the problem.
Seems the 12v feed to the sensor drops too much during cranking and the sensor wont give out its pulse.
I fed it directly from the battery and did severall cranks all of them sync ok.
Will make a permanent separate 12v feed now and keep testing it.

Please let me know if you see something funky in the logs
