lack of boost control problem[ solved ]
]guys I'm no stranger to MS tuning , building, troubleshooting, etc. but I'm stumped. I got this miata with a T3 turbo and a MAC 3 port boost solenoid. The layout is this: Turbo is a cheap t3 with an internal wastegate and a dual port actuator. The actuator has been tested with pressure on the outer hose port and it opens the wastegate when pressure is applied. the preload on the actuator is 4 turns in from neutral. The hose arrangement is as such: The vacuum hose is on the outmost port of the actuator and has a tee ....the 2 port of the tee is to the turbo outlet and the 3 port of the tee goes to port 1 of the ebc. Ive tested the ebc in test mode of ts and it operates just fine yet I only get 8 psi of boost no matter what I set the duty cycle to . I can pull off the hose to the actuator and get over 20PSI (gauge only goes to 20). What is the deal?

Can you draw out a diagram of how it's plumbed?

Re: lack of boost control problem
I think somerhing is wrong with the actuator. I put a manual boost controller on it and i can raise boost with it either. Its like the actuator is too weak or the wastegate flapper itself is messed up. Im gonna tear it down and see whats up.

Re: lack of boost control problem
I never understood that way of adding boost to both sides of the actuator and bleeding one side. It has never worked any different than a single hose to the actuator.
Try running it with a line from the turbo to your manual boost controller and then to the side of the actuator that makes it open. If it works with the manual controller in this configuration then add the EBC solenoid and it should also work.

Re: lack of boost control problem
I solved my boost control issue in a very complicated manner. The turbo I was using was just not optimal as far as compressor and exhaust housing combination so I changed that by putting another turbo on usi g the same actuator. The problem persistsd on the boost control.
I discovered through some web searching that on the mac ebc solenoid ...I should have been using port 1 as the vent rather than port 3.bI then hooked port 2 to the wg actuator and port 3 to boost and now I have positive control over boost via duty cycle. Basically I had the vacuum hosesjacked up . I have no idea why it wouldnt work the way i had it with the mbc but whatever....its fixed and im happy.
