Hello
I have a MS3Pro currently running fuel only.
it is certainly not perfect, but it starts and runs well as a drag strip only car.
Tomorrow is the day when I will get MS controlling the ignition side also.
I will using a lean burn distributor and a MSD 6A box that is currently installed.
for the hard wiring, is it correct that I only need to make three
wire connections from the MS3Pro system?
1) MS white connector pin 15 CKP - to the black lean burn distributor - wire
2) MS white connector pin 6 CKP + to the white lean burn distributor + wire
3) MS white connector pin 24 tach out to the MSD box white wire
the MSD grey tach out, Violet and green wires are not connected.
and a second question on the distributor install,,
I have read paragraph 5.3.1.1 page 63 of the manual many times,
when it says the trigger should align at 60 to 90 degrees BTDC,
is it saying that I should mark / position the damper at say 60 degrees before
#1 piston is to fire, then install the distributor so the distributor rotor
is pointing directly at the #1 sparkplug lug in the distributor cap?
Is that correct?
thanks

I can't answer your question, but I've been told the lean burn distributors have much different rotor phasing between the trigger (reluctor) and the rotor, so be ready for that

Re: Ms3 Pro & Mopar Lean Burn Distributor & MSD 6A
I can't speak for all lean burn distributors, but the one I have, from a 1983 Dodge D150different rotor phasing between the trigger (reluctor) and the rotor,
has the reluctor and rotor timed together. Using an old distributor cap where I cut the
#1 sparkplug terminal off, center the rotor in the open hole, hold the distributor main shaft
steady, remove the distributor cap and the reluctor is perfectly centered on the internal coil
post.
I still need information on the questions posted above.
thanks

You're correct on the wiring.
The distributor can be phased to around 60 degrees BTDC or 10 degrees BTDC. The Lean Burn on my own slant six build is the latter.

Re: Ms3 Pro & Mopar Lean Burn Distributor & MSD 6A
much thanks for the feedback on the wiring,,
on the distributor install, I am thinking,
to get to 60 degrees advanced on the lean burn rotor timing, as this is a six cylinder motor, hence there are six peaks on the reluctor,
60 degrees apart, I could set the motor to #1 firing position TDC, then rotate the distributor back so the coil peak is half way between
the two adjacent reluctor peaks. Then lock the distributor down, Half way as the distributor turns half the speed of the crankshaft,
30 degrees advanced at the distributor would be 60 degrees advanced at the crank.
Does that make sense?
