2nd Baro Sensor question - gauge is weird...
My MS3.0 came with a 2nd Baro and today I tried to monitor the gauge to see what it does.... It 'clocks' between 80kpa and 100kpa (my minimum and maximum settings in "Gen'l Settings"). It's either on 80 or 100.
Can anybody explain why? What's it telling me - that it's not working?
thanks,
kj

I would check for a loose contact on the hardware side. 80kpa is usually the minimum value you get when the sensor falls off, and 100kpa may well be the sensor value in case it works. Also, I'd set the maximum to at least 103kpa (average pressure at sea level, sensor inaccuracies) as to not max out during normal operation.

Yes... looks like malfunction. Now sits on 80 kpa after moving the upper limit in set-up to 105kpa.

To be sure, you double-checked the calibration?

Have you sucked on the baro sensor port to see how the reading responds? It's been quite a while since I saw your board, but it seems to me that a (WHT or ORG?) wire in there was clipped. Maybe the baro sensor isn't fully connected?

Also, measure the voltage coming out of the baro sensor. That will determine if the sensor is faulty of if it is a wiring or calibration problem.

Re: 2nd Baro Sensor question - gauge is weird...
Okay to the above suggestions...
1st - Calibration... from the file above, I show the "Calibrate MAP/Baro" as Custom Sensor with 9.3 and 260 values. I have since input what my assumed very old firmware file had as MPX4250 with 10 and 260 values (this is the setting I currently have with the resulting gauge sitting on 80 kpa. Note: the very old firmware had the Barometric Correction on this same page as 147.0 At total vacuum(%) and -47 as Rate(%). I didn't include these #s because the new firmware suggests leaving at 0 (zero) values - noting in tooltips this was the OLD method. And, "Gen'l Settings" has the upper/lower kpa of 105 and 80.
Q - Is it worth trying with the older 147, -47 setting for Baro Correction on the Calibration MAP/Baro page?
2nd - check Baro response with some tubing... thanks Bill - tbd... maybe today.
3rd - check voltage... thanks James - tbd with #2 above. I've got an old, but good Fluke to check, but I'll have to figure out which contacts to test.
thanks very much,
kj
