Disable Boost Control Bias Duty Table.

Post by Magovit »

Hi,

I have a vw 1.6 8v 11:0,1 50x94 turbo.
Gear target Boost

1 - 160kpa
2 - 220kpa
3 - 260kpa
4 - 290kpa
5 - 290kpa

My target boost always was perfect using previous firmware before Boost Bias table ( feed forward ).
But with (Boost Bias Table ) on firmware 1.4 ou 1.5 boost are complete mess, and i never archive the perfect boost again
I don't want to back to old firmware becouse i love the LOOP1, LOOP2,LOOP3 etc

Please, tell me how to disable completly Boost Control Bias duty Table and change it to work only with Closed loop PID.

PS: I`m sing fw 1.4 since have been released.
Regards,

Even if the bias table was disabled, the PID algorithm is different. If you truly want the old behaviour, you had best stick with 1.4.x

Or switch to Dome Control using an Air tank setup. It works awesome.

Could you use dome control using boost pressure?

No, you use boost pressure to the bottom of the gates and compressed air on top. You can get a small ViAir system under $200 and add another 3 port MAC valve. It solved all my issues with boost control.

Why can't you just apply boost pressure to the top of your wastegate and leave the bottom open to atmosphere?

What method are you using to tune? I have never had any problem, with any car, achieving better boost behavior with the new method, than the old one. It simply requires about 20 minutes worth of "start over."

What Wes said is correct. You should read the manual and retune accordingly.
Megasquirt is not for use on pollution controlled vehicles. Any advice I give is for off road use only.
