Mega manual VS MSEXTRA
I assembled my MS2V3 back in 2007 using the Megamanual for a TPI engine with HEI and batch firing, i upgraded to MSextra and have been referencing James Murray manual and notice quit a few components missing on my board. Should mirror the assembly section in the manual and add all of these components? vehicle does run but notice some weird RPM spikes and started researching my ignition setup and found about 4 different options for jumper wires and wasnt sure which setup to use. So i believe i need to redo my board with the components i dint use before.

Re: Mega manual VS MSEXTRA
My understanding is the Megamanual is no longer current, has not been kept up-to-date. Use the manuals linked to above.
Re: Mega manual VS MSEXTRA
So do I need to add the components in the MSextra manual that are missing in my current board? and also remove the ones that say they are not required?

Re: Mega manual VS MSEXTRA
Unless you are changing configuration (i.e. no longer TPI) and the engine runs, then I doubt you need to change anything.

Re: Mega manual VS MSEXTRA
its still TPI and does run, and am trying to understand where the RPM interference is coming from and looking at the MSextra manual it is much similar than the megmanual but not sure what components effect what area and if I am missing something
Re: Mega manual VS MSEXTRA
The MegaManual tells you which components you can omit if not needed - by section. So if, for example, they refer to the opto input, they're not going to effect the VR input. And so on. You can refer back to it if you can't remember just why you omitted some parts. In your pic above, you seem to have omitted all of the VR input.

Re: Mega manual VS MSEXTRA
Correct, in my documentation I show I installed hall effect section because it said HEI is a hall effect distributor
should I have installed the VR section for the HEI?
should I have installed the VR section for the HEI?
Re: Mega manual VS MSEXTRA
Current thinking is to use the VR input for all tach signals - other than fuel only from a single coil. If you still have the bits, would make sense to fit them.
However, if it worked OK using the opto input and B&G code, it's not impossible to stick with it using Extra code.

I'd go further than that. If the tach-input is working and the rest of the engine is unchanged.... leave it alone!!!DaveEFI wrote:However, if it worked OK using the opto input and B&G code, it's not impossible to stick with it using Extra code.
