Fuel Pump not grounding at relay MSII v3.57
Hi,
I am using msextra on MSII v3.57 board. The pin 37 is not grounding the FP. I tested it on the Sim and the FP led is on when the rpm is at 0 and goes off when above.
Also the Fidle turns on and stays on when the rpm is above 0.
I figure something(s) got damage and i would like to know what i need to replace on the v3.57 board and where to source it.

A good starting point would be posting your msq here.

Does the FP LED come on for a couple of seconds at power up then go out if no tach signal. ie RPM zero?crazymoet wrote:Hi,

No. On the Sim when i turn it on with the rpm at zero the FP led stays on. Once i turn the knob to increase the rpm the FP Led goes off and the Fidle led stays on no matter how high i carry the rpm.DaveEFI wrote:Does the FP LED come on for a couple of seconds at power up then go out if no tach signal. ie RPM zero?crazymoet wrote:Hi,

I was helping my cousin to wire it up and then we had a disagreement and he went ahead and tried doing it himself. He might have mixed up the polarity for the Fidle (not sure if this was the cause or if he did mix it up).
I connected the fuel pump straight to the switch ignition and i was able to start the van (first time starting ).
What i am sure of is the circuit for the FP ground is not working (and maybe the Fidle since the light is on at any rpm above 0 on the Sim.)
I have read about problems with pin37 because of wrong polarity and what needs to be changed but not for the v3.57 board.
When i had wired the ecu the first time the FP relay on the relay board was working and priming the pump. We had a problem with the BIP grounding to the heat sink and damaging the pin for spark B on the relay board. It was after that my cousin connected back all the wires and might have made a mistake. I have test the pin 37 from the relay to the ecu and i am getting continuity.

Hence, my earlier suggestion to post your msq, just in case there is a problem with your settings. Of course, I'm just the kind of guy who likes to eliminate the easy things first.No. On the Sim when i turn it on with the rpm at zero the FP led stays on. Once i turn the knob to increase the rpm the FP Led goes off and the Fidle led stays on no matter how high i carry the rpm.

Re: Fuel Pump not grounding at relay MSII v3.57
Fidle by default is for the idle valve and in the tune your idle control algorithm is set to on/off valve. Pretty sure this would cause Fidle to be on all the time there was RPM . That to me looks normal. What firmware is installed on the MS2?

Re: Fuel Pump not grounding at relay MSII v3.57
well if 3.2.5 be the case then that firmware is fairly outdated. Probably a prudent first step to switch to the latest release firmware which would be 3.3.1

Re: Fuel Pump not grounding at relay MSII v3.57
this screenshot showing your primingpulse delay may or maynot explain the strange fuel pump relay control operation. Never the less a strange figure to be in that box???? Im not sure what Im seeing is valid due to the fact that I do not have the ini for 3.2.5. I dropped the ini in for 3.3.1 but that may be what is producing such strange numbers in the tune for me . IDK. Sounds to me like you just need to start fresh with the firmware and the tune and alot of your problems may go away.

Re: Fuel Pump not grounding at relay MSII v3.57
That appears to be a 3.3.1 thing. I opened it with the 3.2.5 ini and that setting is not there........

Re: Fuel Pump not grounding at relay MSII v3.57
Check for the priming pulse at switch on with a DVM at pin33 of the daughter board - or R16 which is connected to it. If no priming pulse it's likely software related. If there is a priming pulse, but the stim pump LED shows different, it's likely a driver issue.

What should i set the idle control algorithm to for Fidle valve.
I will also update the firmware and start from scratch.

Re: Fuel Pump not grounding at relay MSII v3.57
crazymoet,
As I indicated in my last post, I loaded and tested your msq with a stim using both 3.2.5 and 3..3.1a firmware. I had absolutely no issues with the FP or priming signals.
As I also said in that post, I see nothing in your tune that would cause your issue.
My only suggestion would be to follow Dave's instructions below.

This will depend on exactly what kind of Idle control valve you are actually using..........

Re: Fuel Pump not grounding at relay MSII v3.57
Ok i took notice of the priming on the stim. When the stim is turned on with rpm @ zero, the fuel pump led comes on like a sec after. Almost like it is priming. Question, Should the fuel pump led be on when priming or off.

Re: Fuel Pump not grounding at relay MSII v3.57
the fuel pump LED should turn on even if u have .1 ms of prime pulse for that temp range its in. If prime pulse = 0 for the temp range the stim is set for then the fuel pump LED will not turn on . Hope that answers your question. For instance if the CTS is 60*F and for prime pulse you have 4 ms prime pulse then the fuel pump LED should come on and prime for around 2.5-3 seconds and turn off. If your firmware allows for prime pulse delay and you have entered 1 second then this should extend the fuel pump on time by 1 second regardless of the actual prime pulse ms selected as long as some value above 0 is entered for prime pulse. If prime pulse is 0 then the pump LED will not come on at all. That make sense?? additionally your injection LED should turn on for the amount of ms you have entered for that temp in prime pulse and then turn off . Prime pulse does not dictate the fuel pump prime time unless prime pulse is 0 or your firmware allows for prime pulse delay .

Re: Fuel Pump not grounding at relay MSII v3.57
Guys i am so sorry i took so long to get back to this. I still need help.
I did the test to the r16 and i am getting the 5v. What i do notice the the chip at u8. When i test is with the volt meter i am getting a reading between pin 2 (input 1) and pin 7/8(drain). The idle valves works ok and on the same u8 i dont get a reading across the pin4 (input 2) and pin 5/6 (drain).
Does this mean this is bad. Do i just need a new VNS3NV04D-E.
