Miata CAS, pull up mods?
SO frustrated?!?
did this mod here for the pull up resistors, version 3.0:
http://www.diyautotune.com/tech_article ... _miata.htm
and "The Hall/optical" mod, in section 50 here:
http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/V3assemble.htm
with a jumper in D1, the 12volt pull up is reduced down to about 6volts, as there's something else loading it down.
the signal does however pulse 4 times per CAS revolution, and the 5volt signal pulses twice.
However, the megasquirt has no tacho signal... as best, it shows 1rpm, and tunerstudio says the engine is cranking.
Set to CAS 4/1 or 4G63 for the spark mode, and rising edge or falling edge, it makes no difference...
I removed the D1 link, and connected the signal to the location in the first link (because with D1 fitted, all points on D1 and D2 are all joined together) now I have 12volt pull up, but no rpm signal still...
so frustrating?!
Thanks...

Re: Miata CAS, pull up mods?
It gets even more confusing, because the instructions I followed had a jumper fitted to both D1 and D2... but I don't even know why....
Then I find this page, which was apparently assembled to run a miata, with the stock CAS... the same part I'm using, and it doesn't have D1 or D2 loaded!?!

Here's pics of my board... if there's anything obviously wrong, feel free to point it out ;)

Re: Miata CAS, pull up mods?
*sigh*
Well, I figured it out...
I was following this guide:
http://www.spitfireefi.com/files/GTX_MS_Install.pdf
Which then linked to here:
http://www.diyautotune.com/tech_article ... _miata.htm
And I then proceeded to add the pull up resistors for the MS1 Instead of the MS2, which was listed lower down...
one entire day wasted...

Re: Miata CAS, pull up mods?
So, I have a ~200rpm cranking speed reported now... excellent!
However, I'm still questioning whether the 0.8 - 6.5volts measured on one of the tacho signals is correct, as its meant to have a 12volt pull up...

Re: Miata CAS, pull up mods?
Why not follow the actual manual as linked from the "Manuals" link above?

..because it doesn't appear to list how to modify the MS to run the two inputs from the Miata CAS...jsmcortina wrote:Why not follow the actual manual as linked from the "Manuals" link above?

How about:
http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms2extra/MS2-Extra_4g63.htm
or section 6.18 in http://www.msextra.com/doc/pdf/MS2V30_H ... -07-02.pdf
I'm trying to make the documentation easier to use, so please let me know any feedback or suggestions you have.

Re: Miata CAS, pull up mods?
I used the other guide above, as I am pretty much copying the setup in the PDF above (this one: http://www.spitfireefi.com/files/GTX_MS_Install.pdf)
So I simply followed the links in there ;)
Thanks for the other guide though!
