using up my last few options

Post by nismoautoxr »

I am now down to my last few i/o options on my setup as the hardware is . according to my calculations I have JS4,5,7, 10,boost, inj b1,and inj b2 left to use . Things I want to add are fuel pressure, oil pressure, a traction control enable/disable switch, and a check engine light output. Now i have added a DB15 connector to the case to bring JS4,5,7,and 10 out of the case . I plan to use JS4 and 5 as generic sensor inputs for the oil and fuel pressure .....JS7 for the traction control enable /disable ...and boost as the check engine light driver. Since some of these are raw processor pins , are there any precautions I should take as far as circuit protection incase of shorts to battery or ground ?

Most of my setup is in my signature but here it is for reference:
*MS3
*MS3X
*realtime clock
*knocksense module
*inputing 2 VSS signals
*sequential spark and fuel on 8 cylinders
*launch control and flatshift with clutch on/off switch
*ac idle up and compressor control
*sd datalogging with dash switch
*electric fan control

tune is attached. Thanks in advance .

So...

Now you get to order an IOx card (or three?) and see how many other inputs and outputs you can dream up a 'need' for on your car?

yes I am entertaining that but mostly want to know what I need to do to use what I have left without blowing something up ....since these are raw processor pins I am treading lightly.

Look at the MS3X schematics and what is used for the different I/O types. You can then do the same or similar.

The circuits to use the "spare" pins on the mainboard are shown in the MS3base/V3.0 Hardware manual

James - quick note on the hardware manual for MS3 in the section you're referring to (3.5.6 Other relay outputs):

Figure shows "From MS2" instead of "From MS3"

Not earth shattering... but figured I'd mention it

sweet...thanks James . I didnt know that existed . I plan to use js4 and js5 as analogue inputs

Where did that come from . Ive never seen that pdf.So I build the circuit in 3.4.9.1 and Im good for JS4 and 5 then? So I need _2 _diodes and _3_ 1k resistors and _1_ .22uf cap to run these 3 inputs plus the sensors .

JS7 will only be used as a enable/disable for TC and it will be active on ground.
