can't get sequential ignition

Post by mudbasher »

Hi,
I've got a ms2 v3.0 board using diy autotune 12-1 cas wheel but can't get sequential ignition working? with current settings it runs batch fire only. I've had it firing in sequential before but can't seem to get it back again? also think i may have fried the factory Nissan ign transistor pack as it got very hot when i initially set up and had going low when it should have been going high. The car has a miss after 3000rpm since the install of the mega squirt. which i was thinking the coils couldn't keep up in batch fire so was tiring to swap to sequential ign, but with the timing light on the spark is dropping out erratically on all cyc but #1 cyc seams worse, could this be the transistor pack play up due to it getting hot? thought i might try dropping the spark gap down to 0.020 to see if it helps or not.

using the set up sugested here:

any ideas?

cheers
Simon

Please take and post a composite log.
(Covered in section 2.14 of the Megasquirt-2 Setting Up manual.)

There are no sync-losses in the portion of that datalog presented and the composite log looks fine (crank only, no cam signal.)
Your boost control appears to be out of control though?

Boost controler is not wired up at the moment just using boost straight into waste gate. Do you know why it will only fire ign in batch not seq?

You don't have a cam signal.

you're right. Is there a way i can get a cam signal using the diyautotune CAS wheel?
do i have to wire up the the second opti sensor in the cas?

I do need the second input from the CAS. just to check if I've got it right i need to connect the second CAS signal wire to js10 with a 1k resistor in the line and a 470 ohm 5v pull up with a 0.1uf capacitor to ground? don't know how i missed this when i build the ms2.

Also I've ordered a quadspark ign module to replace the factory transistor unit.

Hey Simon, did you consider the 4 spark - 4 injector board from JBperf?
I have one on mine, works a treat.

Hi Patrick.

Yep. Prob should have ordered one with the kit. But will live with bach injection for the moment.

rewired the ecu with two TC4277 mosfet's in the proto area and install the quad spark unit today. Went for a run and miss is now fixed and also now runs a lot smother. :yeah!: :yeah!: :yeah!:

if you fit a 12-1 (or any other MS2 legal x-x wheel) to the cam it will allow full sequential by itself, given the additional output mods to support it.
Goes to the input you are using for crank sensor currently. (if you ever want to go there, works is good)
Always doing things the hard way, MS2 sequential w/ v1.01 mainboard, LS2 coils. 80 mile/day commuter status.
