MS 3 assembly help
I've got a MS3(MOD EDIT) V3 with a 3X board that was built to run a 36-1 wheel, crank sensor and hall effect distributer. These would drive sequential 4cyl with Toyota Coil-on-plugs. I plan on running a 4G63 sensor instead of the 36-1 wheel. I get lost when I look at the MSExtra section on how to setup for 4G63 sensor. Here is where I am, is there anyone that can help?
Ok, step one in msextra to add a cam sensor input..." The OptoIn pad should be connected to a spare pin on the main DB37 connector (e.g. SPR3)"
I can't seem to find OptoIn, and SPR3 doesn't look like a spare pin on DB37.
Step 2, "Connect OptoOut pad to JS10", I can't see OptoOut but see that JS10 pin will connect to the 3X card
Step 3, "Jumper XG1 - XG2" , can't seem to find that at all.
Step 4, " Check that R12 is a 390R to 470R resistor, replace if not" Found the resistor in place, gotta check the resistance.
Step 5, "Install 470R resistor on the Proto area to 5v+"
Step 6, "Jumper the other end of the 470R resistor to OptoIn", I can't find OptoIn
Step 7, " Ensure that C30 is not fitted", C30 has something there, and I'm not sure what its for.

Re: MS 2 assembly help
I'm confused, 3X board?
Flip the V3.0 board over, the opto things you're looking for are silkscreened on the backside. SPR3 is pin 5 in the db37.
Pictures of what you've got would help me.

Re: MS 2 assembly help
Aside from the MS2 vs. MS3X confusion, it sounds like you are reading some old documentation perhaps?
The new documents do not use the opto-isolator for 4G63.

The board looks like a MS3 with the large busbar on the side and has V3.0 written on it with what looks like the MS3X daughtercard. The writeup I found for the DSM CAS is on http://www.msextra.com/doc/pdf/MS2V30_H ... de-3.3.pdf ...which now that I see it means I was looking at the wrong one.

Re: MS 2 assembly help
That's an MS3 on a V3.0 mainboard. I don't see an MS3X there.
The manual you want is : http://www.msextra.com/doc/pdf/MS3baseV ... re-1.3.pdf

Re: MS 2 assembly help
Ok, I'm slowly coming around. Is the white card the MS3 daughterboard? Right now there is nothing running to the add-on card. Would picking up the MS3X card make it a plug and play deal for the other cam input?
Re: MS 2 assembly help
Man, $105 for a second cam input. Well, maybe I can take advantage of the other parts of the MS3X card. Off to spend more money...
Thanks guys

Re: MS 2 assembly help
Have you read the MS3base manual PDF? It tells you how to add a cam input without the MS3X card.
