Megaview testing and connecting

Post by Ratmos »

Is there any tests that can be done on a Megaview after assembly? I connected it to the MS3/3x and TS took the tune off line. TS returned to normal after the Megaview was disconnected. This happened when the Megaview did not have a 12v supply. Pin 9 has been removed from the serial plug so it does not damage the MS3.I tried a 9v battery supply the Megaview but there was no sign of life. Can I use the power supply from the JimStim to also supply the Megaview during testing. I am about to fit the Megaview to the car and I would prefer to sort out any problems before the installation.

was the computer connected via usb, and megaview by serial?? i think you can only use one or the other not both at the same time.

You cannot have TS communicate with the MS3 using the USB port when the Megaview is connected to the serial port (and vice versa). There is only one serial port on the MS3 and the USB and DB9 connectors are both connected to it. So you can only use one of them at a time.

For reference, this is covered in section 2.7 of the manual.

Thanks for your replies. I had TS connected to the USB and the MV to the 9 pin serial so there was a conflict there ;so I will have to remember to disconnect the 9 pin when tuning via the USB. If 12 volts are applied to the MV should I see anything in the display to confirm that is working without a serial input. The MV, MS3 MSD6BTM and Innovate AFR gauge are going into the car tomorrow so it would be good to know if the MV is going to work.

Unfortunately the MegaView shows nothing at all when there is no serial comms.
