Knock module install

Hi

Just a quick question.

I'm installing the knock module on MS3. On the manual, I just can see 6 pins solder to the MS3 daughter-board, and the knock board has 2 more pin places. On the images, it is not clear to see.

These 2 pins (one says "ET") need to be connected to MS3?

Another question, I will need to use 8 BIP. How heat they generate?

Im thinking on installing them in a old airbag ECU aluminium case (7cm x 10cm x 5cm), on the side halls. Is this enough to deal with BIP heat?

So long as you don't over-dwell the coils, they actually generate surprisingly little heat, compared to older devices. You will need to use a TO-220 insulating mounting kit (if you buy your BIPs from DIYAutotune, they come with this kit - handy!), and use a non-conducting heat transfer grease on both sides of the mica insulator. Be very sure that the mounting holes you drill on the case are carefully deburred, as it has been reported several times here that people have traced improper coil operation to a small burr on the heat sink shorting to the tab on the BIP.

Another question. I need to check again but I think I measured 68ohm between pin3 of BIP373 and the chassis ground.

Is this too much???

Pin 3 is supposed to be grounded.

68 ohms suggests something's wrong with your grounding wires!
