OK, I have an ms2 v3 built using the msextra manuals. It is powering up, but when trying to run the bootloader it will not connect.
I get a message saying "got an answer on com1, but still don't understand it start of string in hex was 0e 86 4c"
Anyone have any ideas? My port settings are 115200, 8, none, 1
Computer is MSI netbook running xp, USB adapter is prolific 2303

Re: Boot loader problem
Well my problem was the USB to rs232 cable. I bought a lenovo x200 and put a startech express rs232 adapter in and it worked first try. Cost me under $200 for the laptop and card, and is a decimate upgrade compared to the $10 MSI netbook.
Re: New problem, not talking to ts
Had everything working, initial tune loaded and no problems. But once I put it in the car, I get nothing. Tuner studio won't connect. If I scan it shows a string of random numbers and won't connect. I thought maybe the firmware got corrupted somehow so I tried to reload and I just get a message saying it got a response but it was garbled.
Nothing smells or looked burned on either the daughter card, or main board. Voltages all check out. I can't figure our what changed.

Wife had allowed windows to update. One if those updates screwed with the com ports. That corrupted my firmware. So after a system restore, and reinstalling the driver for the express card all is well.
