No RPM, No RPM
MS3X V3.0 DIY built. Gen 3 Hemi.
On the main board I used internal pull up. Soldered a 1k resistor to the TachSelect-VRIN jumper and to a 5v pin on the proto area. Also put the jumper for TSEL-VROUT.
Epansion board has the jumper on JP7.
R52- 3 turns CW from full CCW.
R56- full CCW
R11 on expander- 1 turn CW from full CCW
Spark mode - 36-2+2
Cam input - MS3X
Ignition - Rising edge
Spark out - Going high
# of coils - Wasted COP
Can't find location to configure for "Use cam signal" and "Spark A output pin". I am wondering if these default with the above settings.
On the JimStim, the DIP switches are set for 3 and 5 to ON for 36-2+2.
Tried putting jumper on middle and bottom of 3 pin Primary tach pins. Also tried middle and top of these same 3 pins. Also tried doing the 5v pull up and then the 12v pull up.
NO RPM in TunerStudio, I turn both RPM pots but the tach gauge no move.
I tested the Jimston board and it works for the tach on both primary and secondary. I went through the manual a few times...
What am I missing??
Help.

Re: No RPM, No RPM
The missing settings have slightly different names in your firmware and appear to be set correctly.
Can you post a tooth log and a composite log of testing on the JimStim?

I tried to do a composite log as well as a toothed log. But nothing happens.
Am I doing something wrong?

Re: No RPM, No RPM
Looks like it's getting no signal at all. Try adjusting the trim pots.

Re: No RPM, No RPM
OK, I alternately turned R56 (MS3 board) and R11(Xpansion board) one turn at a time. At 9 turns R56-CW and 7 turns R11-CW TunerStudio started to respond. The tach gauge did not move, but lights at the bottom of the screen were changing from red to green.
The RPM not synced (red) changed to green.
Not cranking changing to cranking
Not ready changing to ready
CEL flashing
Lost Sync gauge counter climbing fast or slow depending on how I turn the RPM pots on the Jimstim.
The FIDL and FP LED lights flashing on the Jimstim.
What is the difference between RPM Fine and RPM C?
I will attach a Tooth Log and a Composite Log, but have to do it in two separate post as I can't add two or more in the same post.

I'm seeing a signal, but it's not the NGC pattern. Please double check the JimStim switches.

Re: No RPM, No RPM
I double checked the DIP switches.
Also tried a bunch of different switch settings with no luck. You can also see that I have the jumper of the primary tach on Middle & Lower pins for a square wave signal according to this http://www.jbperf.com/JimStim/JimStim_v ... .html#mode.
Here is the JimStim board.
Lights alternate between :
Ready-NOT Ready
cranking-NOT cranking
RPM Synced-NOT RPM Synced
CEL going on and off
Sync light on steady
Also the D15 and D16 LEDs on the MS3 board are dimly lit.
I hope it is just a silly mistake that I am making...this is frustrating me.

Re: No RPM, No RPM
Turn off switches 6 and 7.
Matt Cramer -1966 Dodge Dart slant six running on MS3X
Re: No RPM, No RPM
Tried that before.
Just did it again per your request, but still the same result.
Lights alternately flash and no RPM movement on TunerStudio gauge.
In a couple of minutes I will post a pic of my settings.

Re: No RPM, No RPM
Please make a tooth log with those switches set to the correct position.

Re: No RPM, No RPM
Here is my tooth log, 20 secs worth.
Depending on how I have the RPM pots set I can slow it down or speed it up.
This is with DIP 3 and 5 only in the ON position.

Re: No RPM, No RPM
It seems to be missing a lot of the teeth - try adjusting the trim pots for more sensitivity.

Re: No RPM, No RPM
I put the DIP switches #3 and 5 to ON
Turned R52 up to 15 turns CW while turning very slowly...No response on the TunerStudio gauge.
Turned R11 up to 7 turns CW while turning very slowly...No response.
Put the DIP switches #3, 5, 6, 7 to ON.
Turned R52 up to 15 turns CW...No response.
Turned R11 up to 7 turns CW...No response.
Turned R56 up to 7 turns CW... No response.
On the Jimstim page of JBperf, the chart says the the 8 cyl NGC (next generation crank) DIPs should be set to 3, 5, 6, 7 ON.
So now all the pots have be reset again. But what to do, hopefully it is something stupid on my part (wouldn't be the first time), because I am stumped.

Re: No RPM, No RPM
I tried using the composite logger and the tooth logger to adjust, but still not working, and I don't even know what to look for .
I tried having the DIPs 3,5 ON, as well as 3,5,6,7 ON.
According to the JBperf. it needs to be set to 3,5,6,7 ON for a Gen 3 Hemi.
I have spent hours and hours trying all that I could to get this to work.

Impossible to comment without seeing a composite log file attached here.
