RPM signal fluctuates/sync loss while cranking
New pre-built MS2 3.57 from diyautotune
BMW M10 4cyl with EDIS-4 Coil being driven directly by MS2, EDIS 36-1 trigger wheel
The car has never been run successfully besides a few kicks and pops.
Problem:
The RPM signal fluctuates while cranking. The fuel pump turns on/off/on/off as it loses and regains an RPM signal.
I have confirmed that all injector wiring is good, that the VR sensor wiring is shielded and not receiving harmful interference, and checked the VR sensor gap.
I believe the problem to be related to the trigger wheel setup in tuner studio, or perhaps its time to fiddle with R52 and R56
Logs show sync loss reason = 2 Missing tooth at wrong time.
additional info that may be useful but is probably just a result of the above:
Both injector banks 1 and 2 fire while priming, but only bank 2 fires while cranking.
Please take a look at the msq and help me determine what might need to be changed on the MSQ.
Thanks!

I have no experience with EDIS, but am guessing you need to set the "Spark Mode" to one of the EDIS selections, not toothed-wheel.

Probably not the reason why you're not running, but in toothed wheel mode, trigger angle/offset should be zero. Set basic trigger to allow the changes to that setting, set zero then return to toothed wheel.

Re: RPM signal fluctuates/sync loss while cranking
Thanks for the tip biglou
billr, I dont believe it should be set to EDIS since it is not using the EDIS control module, as far as the ECU knows, its just some coil and some trigger wheel and I believe the generic 36-1 settings are more correct.
When I tried to run EDIS mode it cranked at 60,000 rpm per the datalogs

think you need to either twiddle the pots and check sensor gap or if the trigger is centered you are not picking up all the 34 teeth you are getting maybe 14 then a gap

"with EDIS-4 Coil being driven directly by MS2"
My mistake, I read that to mean it was an EDIS system, sorry.

Hi,
I'm having trouble assembling my DIYPNP i've assembled a MS1 and a MS2 before and not had this problem.
I can't seem to find the assembly for the PNP only something very generic and somewhat confusing when it comes to the options available also the links on the DIYPNP seems to go round and round not really saying what the link description said or at least i can't seem to find it.
I'm seeking if possible for photos and or more detailed assembling instructions, for the following spec:
toyota corolla 4AGE

Which ignition settings are you using, the ones in the screen shot above or the ones in the msq. that you posted?
