Please post a tooth log now that you have MS2/Extra installed.

Ok I found the instructions to do a tooth log. I will do that tonight and post the results. Thank you.Matt Cramer wrote:Please post a tooth log now that you have MS2/Extra installed.
Re: No RPM testing MSII
Unfortunately I am at a loss. I tried to do a tooth log but there is no reaction to the throttle pots so it can not produce a log? Not sure what to try next?

Re: No RPM testing MSII
Throttle pots have no bearing on the tooth logger.

Re: No RPM testing MSII
OK I can attach the log when I get home tonight. I didn't bother because when I click start and stop it says "empty file". I assume there won't be anything for you to look at?Matt Cramer wrote:Throttle pots have no bearing on the tooth logger.

Re: No RPM testing MSII
In that case, there won't be anything there.
Can you check if the signal from the opto circuit is making it to pin 14 of the U1 socket with a volt meter?

Re: No RPM testing MSII
Voltage at pin 14 is 5V with Stim turned on.

If you apply 12 volts to TachSelect, does this voltage drop to zero?yesitis wrote:Voltage at pin 14 is 5V with Stim turned on.

Re: No RPM testing MSII
I will try that. I am guessing that I connect the negative from the 12V battery to the heat sink and Pos to the TachSelect jumper?Matt Cramer wrote:If you apply 12 volts to TachSelect, does this voltage drop to zero?yesitis wrote:Voltage at pin 14 is 5V with Stim turned on.
Re: No RPM testing MSII
OK I did the test and the voltage at pin 14 drops to zero. Is that good?

Re: No RPM testing MSII
Yes, it means the circuit is working.
The bad news is you may have a faulty daughter card. These have a one year warranty; you'd want to contact the seller directly.

Re: No RPM testing MSII
I purchased it from DYI AutoTune but it was more than a year ago so even though I am just building it now I'll have to buy one. Thanks for all your help.
Re: No RPM testing MSII
Ouch! I just looked at the price $129.00. That's an expensive lesson.yesitis wrote:I purchased it from DYI AutoTune but it was more than a year ago so even though I am just building it now I'll have to buy one. Thanks for all your help.
Re: No RPM testing MSII
Well I got the new Daughter card and with it plugged in the board it will not connect to TS? If I plug in the original board in it connects to TS fine? Did I get a second bad card? Help!

Re: No RPM testing MSII
Have you loaded firmware to it? That's required.yesitis wrote:Well I got the new Daughter card and with it plugged in the board it will not connect to TS? If I plug in the original board in it connects to TS fine? Did I get a second bad card? Help!

Re: No RPM testing MSII
I put MS2 firmware on the daughter board and it does exactly the same thing as the last daughter card. No reaction to the RPM pots? All the other pots show a reaction when I turn them. Also the only LED that lights on the JimStim is the power LED. Is that correct? Thanks.

Re: No RPM testing MSII
Check that there is not a problem with the JimStim: http://www.jbperf.com/JimStim/JimStim_v ... ml#testing. And then make sure you have adjusted the pots correctly on your MS board (assuming you are using the VR circuit).

I am set up for Hall effect and I thought I read to leave all the DIP switched off for Hall effect?racingmini_mtl wrote:Check that there is not a problem with the JimStim: http://www.jbperf.com/JimStim/JimStim_v ... ml#testing.
