ms3/ms3x diy sr20det trigger wheel
hello,
. i'm a little conflicted as to the proper setup for using a diy nissan sr20det cas disc.
firmware 1.4
the new hardware manual directs you to use the vr setup with a resistor and 5volt pull up in the proto area but the diy web site refers to a jumper between s12 and tachselect with a 1k resistor. which is correct? also the wiring of the cas to the ms3 calls for resistors and a 5 volt pull up right in the wiring harness. is this required?
thanks
jc

Re: ms3/ms3x diy sr20det trigger wheel
I've used the Manual instructions and bench tested with a CAS.

Re: ms3/ms3x diy sr20det trigger wheel
Thanks. And the 5 volt pull up in the wiring from the tps cred with 330ohm 1/4 resistors will be required as well, or is that only if using the factory trigger wheel configuration?
Re: ms3/ms3x diy sr20det trigger wheel
Sorry that cred is vref

You need pull ups regardless of the wheel.

I bench tested with the cas wired high res to pt4 and low res to main tach in. I get no cam signal on the composit logger. Should I switch this to the ms3x cam in? I'm using the 12-1 wheel.
Re: ms3/ms3x diy sr20det trigger wheel
I'll post up the log

With the 12-1 wheel yes, you need to use the regular cam input. PT4 is ONLY used with the hi-res Nissan CAS (and flywheel mode.)c/sspeed wrote:I bench tested with the cas wired high res to pt4 and low res to main tach in. And that's with the 5 volt pull up in and resistor in the proto area?

Re: ms3/ms3x diy sr20det trigger wheel
There's no need for an additional pullup because the MS3X cam input already has a jumper available to do that.

Thanks james. Much appreciated.
Re: ms3/ms3x diy sr20det trigger wheel
Still getting a cam fault and Im not sure about the pattern in the composite logger. Doesnt look right at all. Ive set the hardware up per your intructions, following the info here:
http://www.diyautotune.com/tech_article ... _discs.htm
setting up per the final box on the page for ms3 3.57 board/ms3x
Ive also wired the CAS per instructions on 6.40 in the manual for nissan CAS with the 5v pull up and 330 1/4w resistors from the tps vref. but wired high res to the Cam In ob the ms3x.
still getting a cam fault. i think im missing something. Ive attached a log of the cam/crank pattern

Re: ms3/ms3x diy sr20det trigger wheel
Crank signal looks OK, but there's a lot of noise on the cam signal.

Re: ms3/ms3x diy sr20det trigger wheel
Ok.
I scoped the patterns on my lab scope earlier and they both looked ok.
I guess I'll start with the resistors on the board.
Thanks matt

Re: ms3/ms3x diy sr20det trigger wheel
Also just as clarification on the main board I'll be jumpering vrin to tachselect and vrout to tsel, I won't need the 1k resistor with the 5 volt pull up on the board because I've got 5 volt pull up in the harness for my high and low res at the cas.....
Sorry this is redundant but I just want to be clear.

Re: ms3/ms3x diy sr20det trigger wheel
I removed the jumper wire to make my mid current outputs on the ms3x high and it really cleaned up the signal. Ive attached a composite log and a data log. The cam and crank signals looks really good now but, for some reason I am still getting a cam error. I have full sync. Any ideas?

The composite log looks good. The datalog shows half-RPM-sync.
MSQ?
