DIYPnP Failure microsquirt module failed?

Post by prof315 »

I'm working on a DIYPnP v1.1 for a 96-97 Miata that seems to have died. When hooked up in the car I have nothing. No fuel pump prime, no start, no coms with the ECU and no valid serial port when attempting to refresh firmware. It is getting solid power and ground in the car.

I have since removed it from the car and started some bench testing. With wall wart power connected I still have nothing and something seems to be shorted and pulling the power down as I only measure 3.8V across pins 1 and 49 (or any of the other grounds or pin 2 for power) of the microsquirt module or any other point on the support board that should have 12V. If I remove the microsquirt module I have 12V everywhere I should. To me this sounds like something is broken on the microsquirt module itself but before I order a new one am I missing anything?

Did you check if anything gets hot on the board? To pull down the voltage like that, you have some sort of a short (possibly a burned CPU or some other chip) and that will make a few things go hot.
