ford 302 w GM TBI and TFI

Post by esmi83 »

Hello

I have got my hands on a used MS1 with the v3 board, I am in the prosess of making it work with my setup. In that prosess I think I maby have confused myself :)

I have removed all the mods on the board to start on scratch, and are following these instructions:
http://www.diyautotune.com/tech_article ... ng_5_0.htm
and:
http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/TFI.htm

In the first instruction I am told to run a wire from d14 to ign, but in the other instructions that is not mentioned, they seem not to be the same.... should i just scrap the first instructions and just follow the megamanual? (I suppose so, and that the two units are not alike, but i just want to make sure :) )

also another thing I am wondering is what aboute the IAC on the GM TBI how should i relate to that?

Scrap the second instructions (they do not apply to MS1!! ) and read the MS1 manuals from the Manuals link above.

thanks, that was what i thought, what aboute the GM-TBI's IAC valve? should I take that in consideration somehow, or is it just to follow the TFI instructions?

and another thing :)
is this for the tip120-mod? it were wired like the instruktions here:
http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms1extra/MS_ ... .htm#Fidle
and NOT like this:http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/mega ... p-134.html
is there a reason it is changed?

GM IACs don't use the TIP120 mod. But you'd need to change to an MS2 to control it.

ok thanks alot, what a nice forum this is!
I have a IAC from a 5l ford laying around, i will just use thatone instead, and remote locate it with a block of valve a couple of nipples and a small filter i think... will require some mod on the TBI but I think this is the best option :)
Thanks again!

I urge you to upgrade to an MS2. A lot more features and no need to cobble-up the IAC.

No the tip mod works on MS1,2 or 3. Also MS1 processors are no longer in production and kind of obsolete .

Ok thanks alot, so I will just have to do the mods for the gm-type IAC in addition, buy and install the ms2 module and I am then good to go? If so that sounds like a good solution :)
